Getting Involved as a Parent

Parents fulfill special roles at the JCCNS to help with the support and running of the school. Participation is not required, but very welcome! There are many ways to be involved. Volunteers earn drop in credits for their time. Open positions are advertised to all parents at the beginning of the school year or as they become available.

Board Volunteers
Parents serving on the board handle administrative tasks and help make important decisions for our school, such as tuition rates, policies, hours, hiring of staff, and addressing issues that come up during the year. You can learn more about the board positions here.

Other Volunteering Opportunities
There are many opportunities to help support the JCCNS.
  • Supplies and Snacks
  • Fundraising Committee
  • Classroom Volunteers
Classroom Volunteers assist in the classroom when a teacher is absent or an extra pair of hands is needed. Volunteers are always under the direction and supervision of a trained teacher. In accordance with Pennsylvania Act 15, we require all adults having direct volunteer contact with children complete the following background check clearances. These clearances are good for 5 years and can be used in the SCASD for volunteering as well.
  • Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • FBI Criminal Background Check
    • Complete if you have not been a Pennsylvania resident for the past ten years. You must use the code 1KG6Y3 to ensure that the background check is submitted for the correct purpose of volunteering in schools.
    • If you have been a Pennsylvania resident for the past ten years you will need to submit a Self Disclosure Form instead.
