About Our School
The Jewish Community Center Nursery School has been educating young minds for more than 35 years. JCCNS functions as an independent, non-profit organization and occupies a wing of Congregation Brit Shalom near downtown State College. Children of all cultures and religious backgrounds attend our school. Our classroom is mixed age, play-based, and features the benefits of flexible registration and drop-in systems.
JCCNS is run by a Board of Directors, comprised of parents of current students. The Board is responsible for hours of operation, tuition rates, budget, enrollment, and future direction of the school. Parent volunteers fulfill other necessary roles within our school, including fundraising, purchasing, website management, and classroom volunteers. Board and volunteer involvement is essential for the running of our school and parents are encouraged (though not required) to participate. Parents are invited to visit the preschool at any time your child is present.
JCCNS is a school year program, beginning in late August and ending in early June. We follow the State College Area School District (SCASD) Calendar and also close for select Jewish holidays.
We offer summer camps from early July through mid-August.
