Our Mission

Our Mission at the JCCNS is multi-fold. We provide a welcoming and inclusive play-based learning environment to support the academic and social growth of our students. We celebrate and embrace the differences among our students, who come from many faiths and backgrounds, while incorporating Jewish traditions in a cultural experience. Our parents and teachers cooperate to support and run the school in a way that promotes open communication and a community, family-like feel.
Our Philosophy
Our child-centered curriculum recognizes that young children learn most effectively through play. Opportunities to learn are presented through structured and free play activities such as games, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and music. Our two experienced and trained teachers gently guide and encourage every child to participate in all activities, but respect any child who is not ready or wanting to take part.
Our program incorporates Jewish traditions and aims to provide a cultural experience appropriate for children of all faiths. Children learn about the culture surrounding Jewish holidays, such as eating apples and honey for a sweet new year, planting seeds for the birthday of the trees, and baking challah for Shabbat. We openly discuss the cultural differences among all of us and embrace our diversity.
Our teachers recognize that physical activity and movement are important for young children. Students play outside year-round, with water days in the summer, nature walks in the fall, and making snowmen in the winter.
Teachers strive to keep lines of communication open by being available to speak with parents at drop-off and pick-up, by email and phone, and through our private Facebook page. Families routinely interact by filling voluntary support roles in the school--from administrative tasks to assisting in the classroom. These aspects contribute to the community and family-like atmosphere of the JCCNS.
